Last week I told you that I was starting a detox journey. This week, that journey is leading me through the concepts of what I will call "emotional detox." When I say those words, I am sure you can all come up with your own working definition, but for now, lets focus on it being the idea of watching what goes in and out of your mind, as well as your body. As any good mentor or motivational speaker will tell you, what goes in to your mind matters!

One of my favorite quotes is “You are what you are and you are where you are because of what has gone into your mind. You change what you are and you change where you are by changing what goes into your mind.” - Zig Ziglar

But emotional detox is more than just adding good stuff... it is ceasing to allow the toxic thoughts to enter your mind any more. I love how the Bible puts this concept:
"whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things...and the God of peace shall be with you" - Phil 4:8

More on this topic later... But for now, think about the discouraging thoughts that try to get you down, and see if you can trace back to where they come from. Stop letting that source in, and start replacing it with truth!

Yoga can help with emotional detox as well as physical too! This is a neat article on how they often tie together!
