I'm sure that if you follow any number of yogis on Instagram, then you have seen your share of inversions. Headstands, handstands, crazy one handed stands that I could never do... lol.Maybe you just skim by, maybe you stop and admire them for a second. But few of us take the time to find out just why inversions are such an integral part of yoga, and how much of an amazing role that they can play in your overall health and fitness.
Tonight I am going to take a yin yoga class.It is really about the last thing I want to do right now, because yin requires that you hold each pose for several minutes, and I feel very very restless at the moment. The thought of holding still so long seems more daunting than a butt kicking workout. Which is exactly why I am going!
Last week I told you that I was starting a detox journey. This week, that journey is leading me through the concepts of what I will call "emotional detox." When I say those words, I am sure you can all come up with your own working definition, but for now, lets focus on it being the idea of watching what goes in and out of your mind, as well as your body. As any good mentor or motivational speaker will tell you, what goes in to your mind matters!
Yoga is cited by many as one of the best ways to detox & destress. Some poses are better than for detox than others, and throughout my journey, I plan to explore all of the poses, and find out which ones make a lasting difference in my health & stress levels.
